Hoard & Order Ep.1: Five-Liter Chloe's Creepy House Tour
Chloe invites the camera into her abandoned family home and gives a room-by-room tour. The living room is packed to the ceiling. The kitchen has stopped being a kitchen. The hallway is stacked with five-liter containers, and she is proud of all of it. Hoard & Order is a fictional 1970s-cartoon-style dark comedy, and it is not for children.
What Happens in Five-Liter Chloe
Chloe is twenty-three, lives alone, and treats the tour like a housewarming. She walks the viewer through the decay with the enthusiasm of a real-estate host who has lost the plot. The humor comes from the gap between what she sees and what the camera sees: the mold, the mess, the containers, the rooms that used to have a purpose.
The style is deliberately wrong for the subject. Bright Saturday-morning colors and a chipper voice carry material that belongs in a much darker cartoon. That mismatch is the joke, and the short commits to it all the way to the last room.
