Hoard & Order Ep.2: Swipe Right Into a Glamorous Makeover

Chloe meets a nice guy named Greg online and decides she has to get in shape before their first date. Her gym is a trash-filled trench. Her diet is a single cracker. Her bath is the grimy clawfoot tub. Swipe Right is episode two of Hoard & Order, a fictional 1970s-cartoon-style dark comedy that is not for children.

What Happens in Swipe Right

The episode is a makeover story told by someone who has never seen a makeover story. Chloe works out in the hoard, portions her food down to a cracker, and scrubs herself in a tub that has clearly seen worse. The transformation is real, in the sense that she does come out looking different. Whether that is an improvement is left to the viewer.

Greg waits in the real world. The ending is played straight enough to be genuinely funny, which has been the series’ trick from the start: treat the absurd with total sincerity and let the audience do the screaming.
