VITREOUS: The Retro Horror RPG That Learned Her Room
A nameless 1994 horror RPG starts on a rainy night, and the woman playing it starts talking to herself. She works out the menus, the monsters, and the rules of a game that should not exist. Then the game starts learning her room. VITREOUS is a complete soft-spoken retro horror story, and it is the first chapter of a trilogy.
What Happens in VITREOUS
The game opens with a title screen that is breathing and gets stranger from there. The player narrates her way through a world of body-horror creatures, impossible architecture, and a choir that knows her name. She is not a hero and does not pretend to be one. She is a person sitting too close to a screen, thinking out loud, and slowly realizing that the screen is thinking back.
The story runs about sixteen minutes and is designed to be watched the way you would listen to a late-night let’s-play: quiet voice, ambient dread, and a handful of images that stay with you after the video ends. The final room is the one people tend to mention afterward.
About This Animation
VITREOUS is an original fictional game simulation and animation. The visuals are original pixel art and animated inserts; the narration was created with AI-assisted tools, and the voice is synthetic. It is not footage from a real 1994 release.
